Crane Hook Types
Glory Rail manufactures a wide variety of hook types to meet different lifting capacities, duty classes, and application requirements. Each crane hook set is designed for a specific crane configuration, covering capacities from 3.2 metric tons to 400 metric tons.

Double/Ramshorn Hook
Designed for heavy-duty applications ranging from 50 to 400 metric tons. The double-hook (ram’s-horn) design distributes the load symmetrically across two support points, reducing stress concentration and enabling a higher safe working load. It is standard equipment in steel mills, foundries, and heavy machinery plants. The multi-pulley design (4–8 pulleys) provides the mechanical advantage required for extreme loads.

Single Hook
The most common type, suitable for light- to medium-duty lifting (3.2 metric tons–80 metric tons). The single hook features a simple C-shaped opening for easy hooking, making it an ideal choice for general manufacturing, warehouses, and construction sites. Available in both straight-shank and eye-type designs. Models with 1–4 sheaves cover most standard overhead crane applications.

By Sheave Configuration
Single-pulley hook assemblies (1:1 ratio) are used for light loads of less than 16 metric tons; multi-pulley blocks (2, 3, 4, 6, or 8 pulleys) are used for loads ranging from 20 to 400 metric tons, with wire rope ratios ranging from 2:1 to 8:1. The number of pulleys directly determines the mechanical advantage and lifting speed.

Special Application Types
Insulated hooks (for aluminum electrolysis plants); metallurgical/ladle hooks (with heat shields, for handling molten metal); 360° rotating hooks; explosion-proof hooks (for hazardous environments); laminated hooks compliant with DIN standards (for extremely heavy-duty applications). Custom hook assemblies are available through OEM orders.

FAQ
Our standard crane hook blocks are designed in accordance with DIN 15401 and GB/T 10051, with a minimum safety factor of 4:1 (breaking load/rated working load). For heavy-duty applications (M7–M8 service classes), a safety factor of 5:1 is recommended. Each product undergoes a verification test at twice the rated load before leaving the factory.
The hooks are forged from die-forged alloy steel and high-strength steel, including 20# steel, 16Mn, 35CrMo, 42CrMo4, and DG20. The pulleys are manufactured from Q345B steel plate. After forging, the hooks undergo quenching and tempering (Q&T) to achieve optimal strength and toughness. All hooks undergo 100% non-destructive testing (NDT), including UT and (MT.
Yes. All Glory Rail crane hook blocks with safety latches come standard with heavy-duty spring-loaded safety latches to prevent the load from accidentally coming off the hook. Replacement latch assemblies are available as crane hook block spare parts and can be ordered separately.
Of course. Glory Rail offer comprehensive OEM services for custom crane hook blocks, including special load capacities (over 400 metric tons), custom hook shank sizes, corrosion-resistant galvanized or epoxy coatings, insulated hooks, metallurgical hooks with heat shields, swivel hooks, laminated hooks, and private-label packaging. Please send us your drawings, samples, or crane model specifications, and our engineering team will develop a design solution. Lead times for custom orders are typically 25–35 days.
Our crane hook assemblies comply with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management, the CE Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, DIN 15401, GB/T 10051-2010, and ASME B30.10. We can also meet other standards, such as BS EN 13155, upon request. Each product is accompanied by: a manufacturer’s declaration of conformity, a verified load test report (2x WLL), a material test report (MTR/EN 10204 3.1), and a non-destructive testing report (UT/MT). Third-party inspections (SGS, TÜV, BV) can be arranged.
