Hot-Rolling Production Process

Every rolled crane sheave wheel produced by Glory Rail undergoes a rigorous 7-step hot-rolling forming process. From CNC oxy-fuel cutting of Q345B high-strength steel plate, to billet heating and rolling—achieving near-net-shape forming—and on to annealing, welding, CNC precision machining, and comprehensive inspection, every step is subject to quality control.

Gas Cutting

CNC cutting technology cuts Q345B high-strength steel plate into disc-shaped blanks, resulting in minimal material waste and blanks of consistent quality that are free of deformation and burrs.

Billet Heating

Heating the outer diameter of the blank induces significant compressive stress on the surface, forming a martensitic hardening layer with a finer microstructure and higher hardness and toughness.

Roll Forming

The hot-rolling forming process involves rolling the wheel flange as a single piece before welding it; near-net-shape forming reduces energy consumption and ensures uniform surface hardness in the rope groove area.

Annealing & Cooling

After heating to the target temperature, the material is held at that temperature and then slowly cooled to increase ductility and toughness and refine the grain size, thereby improving its mechanical properties.

Welding

Optimize stress distribution to improve the fatigue life and reliability of the hub, and enhance its load-bearing capacity and impact resistance.

CNC Finishing

Turning and grinding meet design specifications; after flame hardening of the rope grooves, the surface hardness is HRC 40–45, and precision grinding machines ensure dimensional accuracy of the outer diameter and groove dimensions.

Testing & Inspection

Ultrasonic, magnetic particle, hardness, and carburization testing ensure quality; mechanical properties (yield, tensile, and impact) and metallographic testing meet forging requirements; and an induction hardening depth of >2 mm has been verified.
