Comprehensive Crane Hook Types & Classifications

Glory Rail offers a wide range of crane hook types to suit various lifting applications. Understanding the correct type of crane hook is essential for safe operation.

Single Hook

Suitable for medium- and light-duty lifting operations under 75 metric tons. Featuring easy operation, quick connection, and excellent value for money, it is the preferred solution for general industrial applications.

double hook for crane lifting

Double Hook

The ideal choice for heavy-duty lifting operations exceeding 75 metric tons. It provides balanced weight distribution, enhanced stability, and exceptional load-bearing capacity to meet the demands of high-performance industrial applications.

C-Hooks & Coil Hooks

Specialized lifting devices designed specifically for handling steel coils and rolled materials. They enable safe and efficient handling of cylindrical loads while protecting the material surfaces from damage.

Laminated Hooks

Designed specifically for extreme high-temperature environments and molten steel handling. Its multi-layer plate construction provides exceptional safety, ease of maintenance, and outstanding heat resistance, making it the standard choice in the metallurgical industry.

Electric Swivel Hooks

llows 360-degree rotation to prevent load entanglement during lifting operations. Electric control ensures precise positioning and improves operational efficiency, making it particularly suitable for complex lifting scenarios that require precise alignment.

Crane Hook Assembly

A complete pulley block assembly that integrates a forged hook, pulleys, and housing. It provides excellent load distribution, smooth operation, and a ready-to-install solution for overhead cranes.

With six specialized hook types covering a load range from 0.5 to 500+ metric tons, choosing the right configuration can be overwhelming. Glory Rail’s technical consultants will assess your lifting environment, load characteristics, and crane model to recommend the optimal hook type—no guesswork, no overdesign, and no costly mistakes.

Why Our Crane Hook Material atters

We exclusively use high-quality alloy steels, including 34CrNiMo6 and 42CrMo, as the material for our crane hooks. These materials offer:

  • Exceptional tensile strength—withstands extreme loads without deformation
  • Exceptional fatigue resistance—long service life under dynamic loads
  • Optimal toughness—resists cracking even in low-temperature environments

The dimensions listed above show our best-selling standard models. If your crane requires a non-standard throat opening, special thread sizes, or alternative materials for use in extreme environments, our custom manufacturing services can fully meet your needs. Simply send us your drawings in PDF, DWG, or STEP format, and our engineering team will provide an accurate quote within 48 hours.

Advanced Manufacturing: Die-forging & Heat Treatment

At Glory Rail, we understand that any defect in lifting equipment can lead to fatal accidents. Every Forged Crane Hook undergoes a rigorous three-step manufacturing process to ensure structural integrity, safety, and exceptional performance.

Precision Die-forging

Unlike cast hooks, our forged crane hooks are formed using advanced die-forging technology at temperatures of 1200–1250°C. This process aligns the metal grain structure with the hook’s contour, significantly increasing load-bearing capacity and impact resistance by up to 40%.

Heat Treatment

To achieve the optimal balance of hardness and toughness, each crane hook material undergoes rigorous heat treatment (quenching and tempering). Quenching at 840–880°C followed by tempering at 540–580°C ensures that the hook components will not deform or crack under extreme dynamic loads.

Non-Destructive Testing

Prior to delivery, every crane hook undergoes 100% ultrasonic testing (UT) and magnetic particle inspection (MPI) in accordance with the SEP 1921 D/d grade standard. This rigorous quality control ensures zero defects, both internal and on the surface.
